Membership Proposition:
Joining the Takatu LandCare Group connects you with a passionate community dedicated to nurturing the environment and enhancing native bird habitats and ecosystems. As a member, you will be actively supported with your pest and invasive weed control initiatives and support the vital pest free buffer zone for the Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary.
By becoming a member, you will:
- Join a community initiative: Collaborate with like-minded individuals who care deeply about protecting and supporting our environment to ensure native birds and habitats thrive on our peninsula.
- Access expert resources: Benefit from professional trapping advice, operational assistance, and pest control resources, including tips and guidance tailored to your needs.
- Engage in unique opportunities: Attend environmental expos, trapping seminars, and field trips, connecting with specialist conservation speakers and other members to share knowledge and ideas.
- Participate in ecological restoration: Take part in eco-restoration planting days to restore and enhance our natural habitats.
- Stay informed: Receive quarterly e-newsletters and regular updates on our activities, initiatives, and conservation efforts.
- Shape the future: As a subscribed member, you are entitled to vote at General Meetings and, if interested, can be nominated for election to the TLC governing Committee.
Membership Contributions
Your annual membership fee helps sustain the operation of our Society by:
- Funding our part-time paid Community Coordinator, who oversees projects and community engagements.
- Supporting eco-restoration initiatives and conservation projects.
- Maintaining our Community Resource Centre as a hub for trapping resources.
- By becoming a member, you help build conservation resilience within our community, ensuring the long-term protection and restoration of the Tāwharanui Peninsula.
Community Advocacy
Our Society plays a pivotal role in:
- Enabling collaboration with landowners and occupiers within our Geographical Area of Interest.
- Advocating for environmental issues on behalf of property owners and our Community Trapping Groups, with Auckland Council and the Rodney Local Board.
